Blankets, Blankets, Blankets

I started making Bluebelle baby blankets for friends that were new mothers. They are hand made with 100% cotton vintage reprint fabric on one side and soft chenille on the other. Mothers, babies and friends liked them so much, I started to get requests form friends of friends. Now I'm selling them on Etsy.com . They are all one of a kind, prewashed and preshrunk, so that they can be thrown in the washer and dryer. The most amazing thing is how much the children seem to like them. I keep hearing "it's their favorite blanket!", which always makes me smile.
So the news is; it seems Bluebelle blankets are going to be in an Catalog called "handmade family". It's a catalog (coming soon) with hand made products, from all over the world, for children, babies and mothers.
Exciting times!

Welcome Spring

I feel like Spring has finally sprung! It's been a long cold winter and I'm happy to see some daffodils ready to open and tulips starting to emerge.
This is the newest addition to "Bluebelle greeting card series", to be found soon at my Bluebelle etsy store. bluebelleDesign.etsy.com
Love to hear what you think.
Happy Summer Solstice!

Moving forward ... slllllowly

I've spent the last few of weeks trying to create a business plan in order to successfully launch Bluebelle Design. I created a "skywalker" diagram with the help of my friend Dorothy, to assist in figuring out what to do first. When you are starting a business your head is swimming with ideas, and it's hard to focus on what needs to be done and in what order.

This is the time for design. Being creative doesn't always fit with the time constraints, and sometimes it's hard to create on demand, but I feel that I'm on a roll. I'm working on many different card designs and I hope to be marketing them in the lower mainland by the summer. You will also be able to find Bluebelle Cards coming soon to bluebelleDesign.etsy.com .

Here is a design that I just finished, it's a "change of address" card, and one of several in my "fill in announcement" series.

Love to hear what you think of it. Lots more to come.

Tammy's Baby Shower invitation

Here is an example of a custom Bluebelle baby shower invitation that I created for my lovely friend Tammy. It came in an ivory petal envelope from Paper Source, adorned with a chocolate brown embossed baby carriage stamp, and hand written names and addresses. It's the special little touches that make an invitation special and personal.

Bluebelle Studio

This is my home studio, it's small but I've tried to be organized and make lots of storage.

Entering a whole new world

Recently I quite my day job to pursue a new path. It was a good job, that I enjoyed, with good people that I enjoyed working with. Some mornings I wake up thinking I may have lost my mind, but there is another side driving me to follow my dream of becoming a successful illustrator. I love to draw, paint, create, and craft ... so I've taken the plunge. I am now working from my studio at home trying to create a flourishing card business, called Bluebelle Design. I design all sorts of cards:
Invitations, greeting cards, fill in invitations and announcements, custom cards for weddings, birth announcements, and much more.
You will be able to find my cards coming soon at www.bluebelle.etsy.com.

I'm hoping that Bluebelle cards will be fruitful, so that I can also pursue another goal ... to illustrate a children's book.

Life is not a dress rehearsal, it's important to be happy and to follow your heart. I hope if you are reading this you will follow me along this path, of hopeful success, possible failure, but inevitable pride for trying.

Here I go down the rabbit hole!
